For one week each June, downtown Bentonville turns into a film festival: independent and family screenings run through the Momentary, Crystal Bridges, Skylight Cinema, and the Thaden School's performing-arts center, with free showings outdoors at the Geena Davis Outdoor Theater. You see the week. Year-round, the foundation behind it, a 501(c)3 Geena Davis started in 2015, moves money and a platform toward filmmakers who rarely get either: $45,000 in 2024 grants, a production arm, and guaranteed distribution for its competition winners, whose 2025 juried field ran 66% female or gender non-conforming and 51% BIPOC. The screenings pull the crowd in June; the platform is the year-round work.
