Cole and Jenny Campbell spent years at other cities' bar tops — Chicago lounges, Greenwich jazz clubs, Nashville watering holes — then came back to Bentonville, the town they're from, and with their son built the room those nights taught them to want. That's Hardwater: the shape of the place is imported, and nearly everything inside it is not. The walls carry local artwork, some of it credited to Cole's grandmother. The kitchen sends out bison sliders, meat boards, and a cookie skillet; the bar's namesake pour is the HardWater Old Fashioned. At the door they hand you the whole idea outright: “Every friend was once a stranger.” The room runs on that line — a neighborhood cocktail lounge where downtown's like-minded settle in over a slow round, not a place for a loud night.
