Midnight Gallery posts the whole deal before an artist ever applies. The 2025 open call put it in writing: ten dollars to submit, a 20 percent commission on anything that sells during the run, the work insured while it hangs, selection by a gallery committee, free public art talks alongside the show. It even published the room itself — 434 square feet, a nine-foot ceiling rated for ten pounds — and, since the walls face the street through windows, rated its own establishment PG-13. Every show is filled this way, by open call, and the gallery hangs only artists practicing within 100 miles of Bentonville, its stated radius. Two of the four quarters break into month-long solo runs, so one regional artist can hold the whole room. The hours are the tell that this is not a daytime gallery: doors at 4 p.m. every day of the week, open to midnight on Friday and Saturday, no booking needed — reservations here are for Callisto, the bar behind the gallery. You see the work in the evening, probably on the way to a drink, never in white-cube morning quiet. For an artist inside that radius, the way in is a form. For everyone else, the door is just open.
