The stairs off Block Avenue drop into a historic basement where more than twenty restored vintage pinball machines — rotated monthly, with skee-ball alongside — share the room with craft cocktails and local beer on draft. Plenty of bars keep a machine in the corner; Pinpoint built a scene around them. An IFPA-sanctioned eight-week league runs Wednesday nights, a Second Sunday tournament posts its scores to the international ranking board, and when the State Pinball Tournament came to Northwest Arkansas, it played out here. The bar bills itself as Arkansas's first and only pinball bar and calls its gin list one of NWA's best. A few times a year the room changes costume: a tropical Lost Souls Tavern, then the Halloween Nightmare on Block Street, which brings a hot-dog stand to the patio for the season. It's 21-and-up and underground. Go on a Wednesday and watch the difference between stocking pinball machines and practicing the game.
