Studio Leilani

Leilani Law is a painter, trained at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the room she paints in on North Olive is also where Fayetteville kids have been learning to work like artists every school year for more than two decades. Her after-school Art Mentorship Program takes ages 7 to 14, eight to a class, for 32 weeks from September into May. Over that year a student draws, paints, and pulls prints, and also works in fiber, ceramics, jewelry, and sculpture, keeps a portfolio, and meets the work of traditional and contemporary artists along the way. The year ends on a gallery wall: the 2026 show hung at Fenix Arts in the Millar Building on Mount Sequoyah, with a reception for the students. The studio billed the 2024-25 session as the program's 24th year. Eight children at a time in one working painter's room, their work hung for the public at the end of each year: a town's art culture starts small and sustained like this, and this is one of the rooms it starts in. This is for parents of a seven-to-fourteen-year-old. Adults after a class of their own should look elsewhere for now: the studio's own pages say no adult classes and no summer camps are currently running, and the youth mentorship is the one thing on offer. Enrollment is by email to Law.
