The Medium's whole trick is giving the building away. CACHE's artist-led project holds a 25,000-square-foot building in downtown Springdale — a black-box theater, a 371-seat house, gallery spaces, classrooms, and a flexible studio — and hands the rooms over on free terms, format by format. InnerSpace turns the black box over to experimental and community projects at no charge. The Creative Exchange Fund pays for artist-led work and requires the Mixtape concerts it backs to stay free and all-ages. Visual Art Nights open the studios for showcases, no ticket. Monthly Table Talks sits two local creatives down to walk through their work over a meal from a local restaurant, also free. By Talk Business & Politics' reporting, the building's long arts tenure predates The Medium: the Arts Center of the Ozarks occupied 214 S. Main from 1993 until Grove Arts bought the building in September 2020, so the deep history belongs to the address, not the current operator. What The Medium brought is the terms: in all four programs, the price of entry is gone.
